Titus James Palani

Sekiranya anda pernah dengar namanya, anda sememangnya mengikuti perkembangan bolasepak tempatan.

TITUS James Palani , who plays for French Division Three side Nanteuil FC, hopes to earn a spot in the national team soon.

"My dream is to play for Malaysia. I hope I will be given an opportunity to be part of the national team one day. I will make myself available if given a chance," said Titus, who is back on holiday, yesterday.

Titus was first called up for trials in 2005 by former national coach Bertalan Bicskei for the Manila Sea Games but he did not make the final squad.

In 2008, the 24-year-old was again selected by then coach B. Sathianathan to represent the country against Premier League side Chelsea but could not attend trials as he was awaiting his permanent resident (PR) card from the French government.
Titus has been in Kuala Lumpur for almost a month and will return to France on Friday to continue training with Nanteuil for the coming Division Three season.

"My dream is to earn a contract with a top club in Ligue 1. Four years ago, I almost did it with Paris Saint-Germain but the club changed management and my dream was dashed.

"My hope is that I get identified by an agent from a top club when the league starts soon," said Titus, whose brother Kogi, is the captain of the Kuala Lumpur Under-12 team.

Asked whether he was interested in playing in the M-League, Titus said he prefers the French league.

"I would love to come back and play for a state side in Malaysia but for now, my focus is on making it big in France," said Titus, who helped his Paris-based club to lift the French Division Three FA Cup in the 2007-08 season.

l THE Asian Games squad were beaten 2-1 by Qatari Division Two side Al-Jaish in Doha yesterday.

Ahmad Fakri Saraani scored for Malaysia in the 42nd minute but was sent off minutes later for a reckless foul.

K. Rajagobal's side will face Oman in an 'A' international friendly tomorrow.
